Sahir Ludhianvi remembered in his Alma Mater at Ludhiana on his death anniversary

Ludhiana (Punjab), October 25, 2024: Ludhiana-born famed poet and Bollywood film lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi was today remembered in his Alma Mater SCD Government College Ludhiana where he studied in mid 1930s.
Teachers and students who were joined by some alumni of the college while paying tributes discussed about the legendary poets’ contribution to the progressive poetry which is still relevant.
Gurzant Singh, a young student in charge of college cultural activities said that he has been impressed from the issues raised in Sahir’s poetry about social injustice and indifference coupled with poet’s penning human emotions of love which touched our hearts so quick. He also quoted some songs of Sahir.
Among many a other students were also Chandan, Sujal and Bhavk who too liked Sahir’s poetry. Brij Bhushan Goyal, the organizing secretary of the Alumni Association present there also reverbed the Sahir’s poem ,’jang to ḳhud hi ek masla hai - jang kya maslon ka hal degi,’
Prof. Harmit Kaur Jhajj too recalled Sahir’s lyrical poetry by quoting his song from movie Naya Daur ‘Yeh desh hei veer jwano ka iss desh ke yaaro kya kehna’. Other teachers present were Prof Dr Nitin Sood, Prof Amandeep Singh, Prof Anurag, Prof Alka, Prof Chamkaur Singh and Prof Paramjit Chander.
Principal In charge Prof. Suman Lata in her message said Sahir has made our college proud by his profound writings and he never missed the opportunity to visit his college when he came to Ludhiana from Mumbai. College has all the books of Sahir in the library.
