Mohali: 313 students conferred degrees during 15th Convocation at NIPER

Mohali, October 25, 2024: The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), SAS Nagar (Mohali), Punjab held its 15th Convocation today at NIPER Convention Centre. Prof. Dulal Panda, Chairman (Officiating), Board of Governors and Director NIPER-SAS Nagar gave the welcome address.
In his welcome address he congratulated all the degree recipients and their families who sacrificed for their upbringing and education.
Akanksha Keshri, M.Tech. (Pharm.) Pharmaceutical Technology Process Chemistry, and Ms. Jhalak, M.B.A. (Pharm.) received the gold medals while 10 candidates from the M.S. Pharm., M. Pharm. and M.Tech. (Medical Devices) received the Silver Medals.
During this convocation ceremony, A total of 313 candidates received the degrees (171 M.S. Pharm., 25 M. Pharm., 29 M. Tech (Pharm.), 10 M. Tech. (Medical Devices) 48 M.B.A. (Pharm.) students and 30 Ph.D. degrees). On this convocation all the degree recipients were in Indian attire.
Prof. Dulal Panda, Chairman (Officiating), Board of Governors and Director NIPER-SAS Nagar` said that the Institute has continuously revised its course curriculum to meet industry requirements.The Institute remains among the country's top institutes in terms of research indicators such as average impact factor, H-Index, and citations per faculty.
In the QS world ranking 2024, it was again ranked first in India, 11th in Asia, and 64th Globally in the Pharmacy and Pharmacology category.Ten faculty members of the institute have been listed among the world’s top 2% of scientists, which may be the highest fraction among any Institute within the country or outside.
He further mentioned that the Institute is working in cutting-edge research areas and has published over 200 publications in international journals of high repute and 15 patents were filed in the last academic year.
He further informed that the placements were exceptional with 102 reputed companies visiting the campus and ~90% of students were placed with an average salary package of Rs. 6.7 lakh, with the highest package being Rs. 27.83 lakh till date
He thanked the Hon’ble Union Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizers and Health & Family Welfare, Sh. Jagat Prakash Nadda, Dr. Arunish Chawla, Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, and other officials of the Department for their generous support.
He also mentioned that NIPER SAS Nagar has been allocated a budget of 100 crores by the government for establishing a Center of Excellence in Antiviral and Antibacterial Drug Discovery and Development.
He advised the students to take charge of their sail, keep sharpening the right aptitude and acumen to turn every challenge into an opportunity and make a mark to take the glory of NIPER Mohali far and wide.
It was followed by the Convocation address by the Chief Guest Sh. Annaswamy Vaidheesh, Vice chairman- Advisory Board, Suven Pharmaceuticals, Ltd., India and Senior advisor/Investor and Board director of Universal NutriSciences Ltd. He delivered a talk on “Pharmaceuticals Integrating IT Across the Value Chain” Enhancing Efficiency, Innovation, and Patient Care. In his address he briefed about how IT can address challenges across the value chain.
He mentioned about the wider applications of AI in health sector e.g. in Clinical Trials, Pharma manufacturing industry, supply chain management, sales and marketing, patient support programs and data security compliance etc. He further mentioned about the challenges and the risks involved also.
The convocation function was concluded successfully.
