Two-day International Children Writers conference to inspire young authors across borders on Nov 16-17

Chandigarh, November 11, 2024: In a bid to empower and inspire young writers, the first edition of "Naviyaan Kalman Naveen Udaan" project, an initiative by Sukhi Bath, founder of Punjab Bhawan Canada , is organizing a two-day International Children Writers Conference* on November 16th and 17th at Sangrur.
The event is expected to witness participation of nearly eight hundred budding authors from Punjab, Rajasthan, Pakistan, and Canada.
Addressing media persons here today, Sukhi Bath said, “In addition to the young writers, around seven hundred guiding teachers and parents will also attend the conference, offering support and guidance to students across borders. The event promises to be an unforgettable experience with a range of cultural and creative activities, including poetry, song, and story writing competitions, showcasing the creativity and talent of the children.”
The celebrated Punjabi poet from Pakistan, Baba Nazmi, will be the special guest , lending his expertise and encouragement to the aspiring writers. Students from outside Punjab will arrive by November 15th, with complete arrangements made for their accommodation, food, transportation, and security throughout the three-day stay.
The project “Naviyaan Kalman Naveen Udaan,” launched in 2023 by Sukhi Bath, focuses on encouraging young students to embrace writing. Since its inception, it has conducted workshops in all 23 districts of Punjab and beyond, providing young minds with the tools and inspiration to express themselves through the written word.
A highlight of the conference will be the presentation of the Shiromani Bal Lekhak Puraskar, a cash prize of INR 7 lakh, awarded in memory of Sukhi Bath's late father, Sardar Arjan Singh Bath . This prestigious award recognizes excellence among child writers and honors outstanding contributions in children's literature.
The project has been pivotal in publishing 35 books in Punjab and Rajasthan, with five books already distributed in Pakistan. Another 15 books are under publication, continuing the effort to reach and inspire more young writers.
This Project Was Initiated on 20th September, 2023 with the first book of Project In charge Omkar Singh Teji, from a school in Alowal, District Patiala. Till now 39 books have been published covering 1370 Universities with a huge contribution from 3280 students.
The Target of the Mission is to publish 100 titles with 500 copies each translating into 50000 books, although there is no limit to this number and the number can extend beyond the assigned target.
Supported by a team of 178 dedicated members, including project in-charge Onkar Singh Teje and media in-charge Gurvinder Singh Kangar who during a media interaction said that the "Naviyaan Kalman Naveen Udaan" initiative exemplifies the power of literature to bridge borders and uplift young voices. This conference is set to leave a lasting legacy on the next generation of writers from around the world"
