Barnala (Punjab), October 27, 2025: Punjabi singer Gulab Sidhu has publicly apologized to the Sarpanches (village heads) of Barnala district after his recent song sparked controversy for allegedly hurting the sentiments of the Panchayat community. The singer met the Sarpanches in Barnala and assured them that the objectionable lyrics from his song referring to ‘Sarpanchi Tappa’ would be muted in all versions of the track.
Speaking at the meeting, Gulab Sidhu said that if his song had offended anyone, he was sincerely sorry. He clarified that the controversial lines were never intended to insult Sarpanches but were meant in a light-hearted manner.
“I have already beeped out the objectionable words and assure you that the song will not be performed in any of my live shows. Apologizing or forgiving doesn’t make anyone small; I have deep respect for all Sarpanches who lead the development of our villages,” he said.
Representatives of the Panchayat and Sarpanch Union confirmed that they had protested against the lyrics earlier, demanding a complete ban on playing the song during public events. After Sidhu’s assurance and apology, the union decided to close the matter.
The leaders further stated that the singer’s gesture was appreciated and urged the public not to play the controversial track at any functions or gatherings to prevent further dispute.
