21st Mohan Lal Bhaskar All India Mushaira poster released; Renowned Urdu Poets to perform on Nov 29
Ferozepur, November 25, 2024: The Mohan Lal Bhaskar Foundation has unveiled the poster for the much-awaited 21st Mohan Lal Bhaskar All India Mushaira. Scheduled for November 29 at Vivekanand World School, the event is the highlight of the annual Mohan Lal Bhaskar Art and Theatre Festival, held to commemorate the birth anniversary of the late Mohan Lal Bhaskar.
Dr. S.N. Rudra, Vice President of the foundation, stated that the Mushaira has carved a unique place in the hearts of the people of Ferozepur. This year’s event will feature world-renowned Urdu poets, including Wasim Barelvi (Bareilly), Nawaz Deobandi (Deoband, UP), Ameer Imam (Sambhal, UP), Altamash Abbas (Mumbai), Kashi Raza (Saharanpur, UP), Tauseef Tabish (Jammu), and Mussawir Ferozepuri (Mohali), who will mesmerize the audience with their poetic brilliance.
The Mushaira honours the memory of Mohan Lal Bhaskar, a former Indian spy, educationist, poet, and writer. Known for his daring espionage missions in Pakistan, Bhaskar was captured on his 17th mission due to a betrayal by a double agent. Despite enduring severe torture for two and a half years and being sentenced to death by a Pakistani court, he was released on December 9, 1974, under the Simla Agreement, thanks to relentless efforts by his mentor, Harivansh Rai Bachchan.
Bhaskar documented his trials in his autobiography, Main Pakistan Mein Bharat Ka Jasoos Tha (I Was India’s Spy in Pakistan), which won the prestigious Shrikant Verma National Award in 1989 and was published in ten languages. Beyond his espionage career, he contributed significantly to education by founding Manav Mandir School in this border region and remained actively engaged in social service.
To preserve his legacy and promote literature, art, and social service, the Mohan Lal Bhaskar Foundation and Society was established by his family and admirers.
The event is poised to be an evening of poetic brilliance, celebrating the life and legacy of Mohan Lal Bhaskar while fostering a love for Urdu literature and culture.
Key figures involved in organizing the event include Prof. Gurtej Koharwala, Jhaileshwar Bhaskar, Meher Singh Mall, Harsh Arora, Amarjeet Singh Bhogal, Aman Deora, Ajay Tuli, Amit Dhawan, Dr. Naresh Khanna, and many others, whose collective efforts ensure the program’s success.
