Mumbai (Maharashtra), November 26, 2025: Comedian and actor Kapil Sharma has spoken publicly for the first time about the shootings that took place at his cafés in Vancouver, Canada.
Recalling the incidents, Kapil said the attacks highlighted serious law and order issues abroad, while also reinforcing his trust in Indian security agencies, especially the Mumbai Police.
“These incidents happened in Canada, in Vancouver. I think there were three shootings there,” Kapil said, noting that local authorities struggled to take firm action. “I think the police there don’t have enough power to control things.”
Kapil revealed that after his case escalated, it drew attention at the highest levels of the Canadian government.
“When our case happened, it went to the federal court. There was even a discussion in the Canadian Parliament. Many people called me saying such incidents were already happening earlier, but after the shooting at my café made headlines, the police finally began taking strong steps to improve law and order.”
Contrasting the experience with safety in India, Kapil said he never feels insecure at home.
“I never feel like this in Mumbai or in my country. There’s no one like our Mumbai Police,” he remarked, praising the city’s security system.
Despite the attacks, Kapil said his café witnessed even greater public support.
“After all the gunfire there, we actually saw a bigger opening at our café. If God is with you, everything is fine,” he added.
