16th National Voters' Day Celebrated with democratic zeal in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, January 25, 2026: Under the visionary leadership of District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Deepshikha Sharma, the 16th National Voters' Day was celebrated with immense democratic fervour and enthusiasm at the District Administrative Complex.
The event was graced by Ms. Lindia, IAS, SDM Firozpur, as the Chief Guest, and commenced with a welcoming address by District SVEEP Coordinator Dr. Satinder Singh (National Awardee), who briefed the audience on the significance of the day.
A special video message from the Election Commission of India was screened to inspire citizens toward fair and responsible voting, followed by vibrant cultural performances from the students of Government Senior Secondary School, Dhira Ghara. Key highlights included an impactful speech by Jasdeep Kaur, a melodic song by Tanveer Kaur, and a stirring poem by Mandeep Kaur.
In her keynote address, Chief Guest Mrs. Lindia emphasized that the primary goal of National Voters' Day is to sensitize citizens about the power of their franchise and ensure maximum participation across all sections of society to strengthen democracy. Following her address, she administered the official Voters' Pledge to the gathering.
The event also served as a platform to recognize excellence in electoral duties, where S. Arvinder Pal Singh (SDM Zira) was honored as the Best ERO, Dr. Satinder Singh as the Best Nodal Officer, and teacher Harsevak Singh Sadhuwala as the Best BLO, with each receiving certificates and cash prizes.
The ceremony, expertly conducted by stage secretary Ravi Inder Singh, concluded with a vote of thanks by Election Tehsildar Shri Rajan Dhall and the singing of the National Anthem.
On this occasion, Election Kanungo Madam Gagandeep Kaur, Election Kanungo Daljit Singh, Retired Election Tehsildar Shri Chand Prakash, and In-charge Sonu Kashyap along with SVEEP Coordinator Lakhwinder Singh Simak from Firozpur Urban constituency were present.
The gathering also included In-charge Jaswant Singh Saini and SVEEP Coordinator Kamal Sharma from Firozpur Rural constituency; In-charge Kewal Krishan and SVEEP Coordinator Parvinder Singh Lalchian from Guru Har Sahai constituency; and In-charge Sandeep Kumar with SVEEP Coordinator Mahavir Bansal from the Zira constituency.
Additionally, District Media Coordinator Sarabjit Singh Bhawra, Yugesh Talwar, Angrez Singh Sodhi, Mandeep Singh, and the entire election staff were also in attendance.
