400 underprivileged students benefited in Phase-II of ‘Umeed’ project
Ferozepur, April 12, 2026: ‘Firozepur Foundation’, which has been running a community kitchen under its “No One Sleeps Hungry” campaign for the past eight years, is now making notable contributions in the field of education as well. Under the second phase of its project ‘Umeed’, the foundation distributed school bags and stationery to 400 underprivileged students.
Foundation founder Shailendra Shaily informed that in the first phase, 650 students were provided with school bags. In the second phase, 110 students received bags last week, while 290 students were covered on Sunday. He extended his best wishes to the children for the new academic session and encouraged them to study diligently and contribute towards nation-building.
He further added that in the coming days, the foundation plans to distribute water bottles, lunch boxes, and other educational materials in government schools. Under ‘Umeed Ki Pathshala’, special classes are being conducted for children of brick kiln workers. Local women are being engaged as teachers and provided with honorarium for their services.
Foundation member Jimmy Kakkar stated that the organization serves langar at six locations daily, feeding nearly 2,000 people. Besides this, the foundation is actively involved in various social services including education, environmental initiatives, water distribution, cremation services, and hearse facilities.
