Blinkit delivery boy looted; accused, including minor girl, nabbed using the same modus operandi
Ferozepur, February 20, 2026: A delivery boy working with Blinkit was brutally robbed by a gang using a disturbing new modus operandi in Ferozepur, raising serious concerns over public safety and lack of civic cooperation.
According to the victim, Harpreet Singh, the gang used a minor girl, around 9–10 years old, to ask unsuspecting motorists for a lift near Dussehra Ground on the Kacha Zira Road. Once the victim agreed to drop her off near the grain market area, where visibility is poor, two accomplices attacked him from behind. He was struck on the head with a stick, rendering him unconscious for nearly 15–20 minutes. The assailants looted his mobile phone, purse containing ₹7,000–8,000 in cash, and bike keys before fleeing.
Despite regaining consciousness, the victim received no immediate help from passersby, with several refusing to lend a phone. The following day, with the help of fellow Blinkit delivery staff, a trap was laid at the same spot. The same girl approached again seeking a lift, and as the plan unfolded, two of the three gang members were apprehended on the spot, while one managed to escape. The accused, including the girl and two male accomplices, were later handed over to the police.
Residents alleged that nearby CCTV footage could have aided the investigation, but several people refused access, claiming the cameras were non-functional. Locals have appealed to citizens to cooperate with law enforcement and share CCTV footage when required.
Police officials confirmed that the matter is under investigation and assured strict action against those involved.
