Building violations at Chandigarh’s Elante Mall; Administration takes action

Chandigarh, November 2, 2025: The Chandigarh Administration has taken action against Nexus Elante Mall, located in Industrial Area Phase 1, over major building violations spread across approximately 35,040 square feet, including misuse of parking space.
Officials from the Estate Office, accompanied by police personnel, conducted the operation on Sunday morning following a show-cause notice issued to the mall management a day earlier by SDM (East)-cum-Assistant Estate Officer Khushpreet Kaur. The notice was served to M/s CSJ Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., the company managing the mall.
According to the Estate Office’s inspection report, 10 major violations were found within the premises, with the most serious being the conversion of 22,000 square feet of designated parking area into landscaped green zones — in violation of approved building norms.
List of Key Violations
	- Illegal storage structure built over 500 sq. ft. on the right wing.
 
	- Temporary iron structure covering 850 sq. ft. behind Hyatt Residency.
 
	- Café and temporary sheds set up over 3,000 sq. ft. of open area.
 
	- 550 sq. ft. temporary shed at the valet entry point.
 
	- 1,800 sq. ft. retail space occupied by Anita Dongre store in violation of building rules.
 
	- Parking slots P-1, P-6, P-9, P-10, P-25, and P-32 converted into green areas.
 
	- 3,500 sq. ft. construction of shed and wall in parking slot P-21.
 
	- 2,500 sq. ft. of Basement-1 used for daycare, canteen, mess, and washrooms.
 
	- Hemlay slide between the second and third floors kept closed.
 
	- 300 sq. ft. wooden storage created in the second basement.
 
Officials said further action will depend on the mall management’s response to the notice and compliance with building norms.
