CGC University, Mohali hosts first National Youth Parliament 2026; Former MP Avinash Rai attends as Chief Guest

Mohali (Punjab), February 10, 2026: The School of Legal Studies at CGC University, Mohali, successfully organized its first CGCU National Youth Parliament–2026, providing a national platform for young minds to deliberate on pressing socio-political issues while gaining hands-on exposure to parliamentary procedures.
The event witnessed 118 participants from across India, underlining its national reach and growing relevance among youth. To encourage active participation and excellence, the university announced a cash prize pool of ₹30,000.
Former Member of Parliament Mr. Avinash Rai, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, praised the initiative and emphasized that such platforms play a vital role in familiarizing students with the functioning of parliamentary democracy.
The programme was further enriched by the presence of renowned social activist Mr. Naginder Singh Parmar and senior journalist Mr. Tarun Jha as special guests. Both speakers shared valuable insights on democratic governance, civic responsibility, and the crucial role of media in a democratic setup.
The event was conducted under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) J.P. Yadav, Director, School of Legal Studies. Dr. Divya, Event Coordinator, played a key role in ensuring the smooth and successful execution of the programme.
The Youth Parliament was held in three sessions, closely simulating real parliamentary proceedings, including the commencement of the House, Question Hour, Zero Hour, structured debates, and final resolutions. Participants were evaluated by a panel of judges on the basis of articulation, logical reasoning, and parliamentary conduct.
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony and the launch of Lex Fiesta, marking a significant milestone for the School of Legal Studies.
