Chandigarh: Two new Omicron cases reported

Chandigarh, December 26, 2021:
Chandigarh on Sunday reported two new cases of Omicron variant of COVID-19. The duo are the contacts of the first case of Omicron.
The UT health department informed that samples of five family contacts of previous omicron positive cases were sent for genome sequencing to NCDC, New Delhi. Two of these were found to be positive for Omicron Variant.
One of them is an 80 year old male who is a patient of hypertension but is asymptomatic. He has been isolated in hospital. The last re-test on 24.12.2021 was again positive. He will be re-tested again on 01.01.2022.
The second is a 45 year old male, who was reported as RTPCR negative on 24th December and stands discharged.
Genome sequencing report of remaining three contacts is pending but they all have tested negative on RT PCR retesting on 24th Dec and discharged.
As per the health department, total Omicron cases reported till date in Chandigarh are 3, out of which two have been discharged.
