Patiala, September, 2018 :
Responding to Chief minister Mr Arvind Kejriwal's appeal for coming back to the fold of the party, Dr Dharamvira Gandhi Member Parliament from Patiala asked Mr Kejriwal to first and foremost analyze and identify the reasons behind AAP’s 2017 fiasco in Punjab which led to virtually killing of a dream and honest wish of punjabi people to have alternative politics in the state.
“Just as Delhi is struggling for a statehood for itself I stand for autonomy for Punjab within Indian Union,” Dr Gandhi said and added,” Only the wearer knows where the shoe pinches. Punjabis have figured out what ails Punjab and have right to fight for amelioration of their miseries.
“Punjab needs a political programme specific to its own needs tailored to suit to its specificities and future generations,” he asserted.
He called upon Delhi Chief Minister to acknowledge Punjab's right to seek autonomy for itself within Indian Union and through peaceful means and accept the first two of the six resolutions of the Bathinda Convention as preconditions to any meaningful initiative on Punjab.
Fulfillment of these two conditions are necessary to reverse the disintegration process that shattered the hopes of third alternative in Punjab.
He appealed to Sh. Arvind Kejriwal to immediately initiate the process by issuing a written statement to this effect.
