Fatehgarh Sahib. June 01, 2020: After a gap of three weeks, district Fatehgarh Sahib, which was COVID free has again become COVID affected as six new cases of COVID positive have been reported. Five of the COVID are members of a family of village Panaichan near Khamano and one from Mandi Gobindgarh town. All have been admitted in Gian Sagar Hospital Banur, whereas the five members refused to board the Ambulance and to go to Gian Sagar Hospital and after some strictness of police they boarded the Ambulance.
Dr. N.K Aggarwal Civil Surgeon said that five members of a family including a child of village Panaichan near Khamano were tested positive. As per information a member of the family is married in Delhi and on 25th May he along with his wife who is said to be nurse in a hospital in Delhi along with their child returned to the village. After getting the information health teams took their samples on 30th May and today five members were tested positive, whereeas the nurse was tested negative while her husband and her child tested positive. He said that 130 samples were sent on 30th May out of which 5 belonging to village panaichan tested positive while 125 other samples tested negative. He said that another Positive case is from Mandi Gobindgarh, a youth had come from Delhi after appearing in an interview,so now six COVID cases are active in district.
As soon as the report of five family members tested positive the teams of health department and a police reached on the spot but the family members refused to board the ambulance to go for treatment at Gian Sagar Hospital Banur, but the police strictly forced them to board the Ambulance, said SHO Khamano Raj Kumar. Harpal Singh SP (I) Fatehgarh Sahib and DSP Khamano Dharmpal said that the village has been sealed and police men have been deployed to restrict the movement of people.
