Gurdaspur (Punjab), December 3, 2025In a significant breakthrough in the Gurdaspur grenade attack case, the Counter Intelligence (CI) Bathinda unit, in coordination with Gurdaspur Police, has arrested another key accused, taking the total number of arrests in the case to five. The development comes as part of Punjab's ongoing crackdown on terror networks under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s directive to strengthen state security.
The accused has been identified as Mohan Singh, a resident of Ramuwal village in Bathinda.
This arrest follows the earlier detention of four individuals—Pradeep Kumar, Gurdit, Naveen Chaudhary, and Kush—linked to the grenade attack on Gurdaspur City Police on November 25, 2025, around 7:30 pm. Police had recovered one P-86 hand grenade and two pistols from their possession.
Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav stated that preliminary investigations revealed Mohan Singh was in contact with Pakistan-based ISI-sponsored gangster Shehzad Bhatti. Acting on Bhatti’s instructions, Mohan Singh allegedly helped execute the attack with the intention of spreading terror in Punjab.
The DGP added that the investigation is ongoing, with teams actively pursuing leads to dismantle the larger network behind the attack.
AIG CI Bathinda Avneet Kaur Sidhu said that Mohan Singh’s arrest was made possible through coordinated technical and human intelligence shared with Gurdaspur Police.
Gurdaspur SSP Aditya disclosed that, following Mohan Singh’s interrogation, police recovered a .32-bore pistol with live cartridges and seized a black Splendor motorcycle allegedly used in the crime.
The case is being investigated under FIR No. 289 dated 26/11/2025, registered under Sections 109, 324(4), and 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act at Police Station City Gurdaspur.
