Chandigarh, June 9, 2026: Haryana State Women’s Commission Chairperson Renu Bhatia, who was embroiled in controversy over her abusive remarks toward a nurse and her subsequent statement regarding "having a daughter," has resigned from her post. She has sent her resignation letter to Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. It is speculated that this decision was taken following the strike by government hospital nursing staff, who had been actively demanding her resignation, and the controversy generated by her recent 'daughter' remark.
In her resignation letter addressed to the Chief Minister, Renu Bhatia wrote:
"During my tenure of approximately 4-1/2 (four and a half) years, I have worked as the Chairperson of the Haryana State Women’s Commission with complete loyalty and honesty. For this, I sincerely thank former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and current Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini."
She further wrote that she remains fully committed to fighting for women's rights and their dignity. She also stated that if she is appointed to any position in the future, she will fulfill that responsibility with complete loyalty and honesty. At the end of the letter, she wrote, "I am currently resigning from this position, so please accept my resignation."
It is worth noting that Renu Bhatia's resignation is being linked to state politics and the ongoing protests by the nursing staff of government hospitals.
