MP Manish Tewari launches poster for Baisakhi Mela-2026

Chandigarh, April 5, 2026: Lok Sabha Member Manish Tewari on Saturday released the poster for Baisakhi Mela-2026, setting the stage for a vibrant cultural celebration to be held on April 11 at the Sector 42 lake in Chandigarh.
The festival is being organised jointly by the Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh and the North Zone Cultural Centre, in collaboration with Channi Cultural Forum, Punjabi Kala Kendra and Jugni Cultural and Youth Welfare Club.

The Baisakhi Mela will also serve as a tribute to noted artistes—Mundri Ustad, Karamjit Bagga, Bachan Ram, Harinderpal Singh and Narinder Billa. Family members of these late performers will be honoured during the event.
As part of the celebrations, renowned Punjabi singer Pammi Bai, along with singers Hardeep Singh, actors Shivinder Mahal and Anita Shabdish, will be specially felicitated for their contribution to the cultural landscape.
The mela will witness participation from several artists including Gurkirpal Surapuri, Lakhvir Lakhi, Sarvi Rattan, Gurinder Gary, Jass Dhillon, Jaspal Jassi, Sarbans Prateek, Bill Singh, Ominder Oma, Malkit, Malanga and Patanga, Gurmeet Kular, Gary Gill, Jagjit Badali, Kulwant Manana and Sahib Singh. A special performance will also be presented by the BIB Band comprising visually impaired children.
The event promises a rich showcase of Punjab’s folk heritage, featuring traditional performances such as Bhand-Marasi, Gatka, Bhangra, Giddha, Jhummar, Ludi and Sammi, along with folk music and instruments.
Several dignitaries and organisers, including Davinder Singh, Charanjit Channi, Balkar Sidhu, Ramesh Kumar, Tejinder Singh, Harjit Singh, Arvinder Sharma, Lakhvir Lakhi, Shamsher Singh, Kirandeep Singh, Balbir Singh, Naresh Kumar and Vikram Chopra, were present on the occasion.
