Jalandhar, March 15, 2020: Lok Sabha Member of Parliament Chaudhary Santokh Singh on Sunday visited Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Civil Hospital and took stock of the isolation wards and beds there.
Accompanied by MLA Jalandhar Central Rajinder Beri, PHSC Vice Chairman Bobby Sehgal, Chaudhary Santokh Singh inspected isolation wards equipped with 44 beds and all essential equipments, set up in Trauma Centre and near Ortho Ward.
Chaudhary Santokh Singh also talked with the medical staff deputed for special desk set up in emergency ward of the civil hospital.
Showing complete satisfaction over arrangements made in civil hospital , Chaudhary Santokh Singh said that private hospitals have also been asked to set up special isolation wards in their respective premises, to tackle any eventuality which may or may not arise in the future, in wake of Corona Virus.
MP said that there was absolutely no need of any panic, and this was only a preparatory exercise to be better equipped to manage any situation that may or may not arise.
MP said that the Corona Virus has emerged as a major global threat adding that prevention was the only way to keep this Corona Virus at a bay.
He also asked drug department to keep check on the medical stores which are selling masks and sanitizers on higher rates by creating an artificial scarcity.
He said that this will be dealt with a heavy hand and the perpetrators of this heinous crime must be brought to book.
He said that this was not an air borne disease so could be avoided by simply maintaining distance from infected people.
He said said that Punjab Government has been making concerted efforts to keep a check on this disease with guiding the people about it.
Meanwhile , Medical Superintendent Dr Mandeep Kaur said that symptoms of Corona Virus were like that of any other common flu. She said that as a precaution measure, people should maintain one metre distance from another, avoid visiting congested places, wash hands or use sanitisers besides others.
