Chandigarh, February 4, 2026: Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia on Tuesday signalled a renewed push to reunite the party, stating that the doors of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) are open to all leaders who have distanced themselves in recent years. Interacting with the media after his release from jail, Majithia said he would make every possible effort to bring disgruntled leaders back and strengthen the party collectively.
Asserting that there is a strong public sentiment in favour of a united Akali Dal, Majithia said the party must move forward by taking everyone along. “The people want to see a strong Shiromani Akali Dal. With the Guru’s grace, I will make every effort to bring everyone onto one platform,” he said, adding that he was prepared to make any sacrifice necessary for the party’s revival and unity.
Referring to leaders who had parted ways with the Akali Dal, Majithia specifically named Parminder Singh Dhindsa and the Chandumajra family, saying that his personal relations with them remained cordial. He noted that members of these families stood by him during his legal battles and continued to attend court hearings during his difficult phase. Hinting at a major development, Majithia told the media that Punjab would soon witness a significant political “homecoming” within the Akali Dal.
Majithia also recalled the support he received during what he described as a testing period in his political career, saying it went beyond party lines. He expressed gratitude to leaders such as Captain Amarinder Singh, Sunil Jakhar, Sukhpal Singh Khaira, Charanjit Singh Channi, and Shwait Malik, among others, for standing with him in his fight for justice.
“Political differences are natural, but when it comes to injustice, everyone stood together,” Majithia remarked, underlining the broader solidarity he experienced during the period.
