Mansa police start psychological counselling of COVID-19 affected persons
Contact numbers of Self Help Group made available to them for instant counselling
Mansa, April 10, 2020 : With the Budhlada town in the district has emerged as a hotspot of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) after 11 persons including five associated with Tablighi Jamaat tested positive, the district police with the help of Psychologists started telephonic counselling of such people who either tested positive or are suspected.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mansa Dr Narinder Bhargav, who himself called some of the COVID-19 affected people on Friday, said that the move was aimed to boost the confidence of the people that they can fight this disease.
Dr Bhargav said that the Budhlada town has been sealed and contact tracing survey is being carried out jointly by the Health, Police administration and civil administration.
“During this course, Mansa police has found that residents in the different areas and the persons who are undergoing the process of home quarantine and isolation needs to be taken care of through psychological counselling,” he said.
He said that Mansa police has formed Self Help Groups comprising Psychologists and Psychiatrists, who will counsel such persons that will help to boost their confidence.
The exercise has been started at the Police Control Room in the presence of the SSP Dr Bhargav, who instructed Psychologists, Psychiatrists and Police Officials to counsel such persons to boost their self-confidence which will also give them the will to fight the Coronavirus. The Psychologists and Psychiatrists include two doctors Dr Harpal Sran and Dr Manoj Goyal while a team of counsellors led by Ajaypal.
Meanwhile, telephone numbers of the Self Help Groups have been provided to the affected persons and the latter can call on that numbers anytime for consultancy. This endeavour has been made by the District Police as per the policy of Chief Minister Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh and the guidelines of Director General of Police Dinkar Gupta to help the people of Punjab. This is one of the steps taken to fight against the COVID 19 pandemic.
