Putin receives grand welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan; Pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi

New Delhi, December 5, 2025:Russian President Vladimir Putin began the second day of his India visit with a grand and ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday morning. Upon his arrival, he was accorded a 21-gun salute and a Guard of Honour, marking a significant moment in the ongoing diplomatic engagement between the two nations.
Following the official welcome, President Putin visited Rajghat, where he laid a floral tribute at the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi, honouring the Father of the Nation.
Putin then proceeded to Hyderabad House, where his crucial bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi are currently underway.
Both leaders are participating in the 23rd India–Russia Annual Summit, a high-stakes meeting being closely watched by the global community. It is expected that India and Russia may sign more than 25 major agreements across critical sectors including defence, trade, and energy. The summit is likely to give a fresh strategic direction to the longstanding partnership between the two nations.
Apart from the bilateral talks with PM Modi, President Putin has a packed schedule today. He is also set to meet leading Indian industrialists to explore new investment opportunities and strengthen bilateral trade. The interactions aim to identify fresh avenues for economic cooperation and boost business ties between the two countries.
