Rana Sodhi flags off New Delhi–Ferozepur Bi-Weekly Intercity extension
Ferozepur, November 24, 2025: A long-pending dream of enhanced rail connectivity between Ferozepur and New Delhi became a reality today, thanks to the persistent efforts of BJP National Executive Member Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi.
The Railway has extended the bi-weekly Intercity Express, earlier running between New Delhi and Moga, up to Ferozepur from Monday onwards. Flagging off the train from Ferozepur, Rana Sodhi said he has been continuously working with the Union Railway Minister and the Minister of State for Railways to ensure direct rail connectivity between Ferozepur and major religious as well as key cities across the country.
As a result of these efforts, weekly trains from Ferozepur to Sri Hazur Sahib and Haridwar have already been introduced, along with the successful launch of the Vande Bharat Superfast Express from Ferozepur to Delhi.
Considering public demand, the New Delhi–Moga Intercity has now been extended to Ferozepur. The train will depart from Ferozepur every Monday and Friday at 3:30 PM. In addition, the Railways has approved an important rail link between Mallanwala and Patti to further strengthen connectivity between the Majha and Malwa regions, and the Punjab Government has been requested to begin land acquisition for the project.
Sodhi expressed confidence that the day is not far when Ferozepur region will provide the entire country with a dedicated rail freight corridor connecting Jammu to Mumbai.
Railway division officials and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
