Contrary to its impressive showing in 2017 assembly elections from Shahkot, the popularity graph of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has suffered a major blow.
Its candidate in the bypoll, the counting of votes of which is in progress on Thursday, has got only 1058 votes at the end of nine rounds of counting.
If this trend of counting continues, the AAP candidate Rattan Singh looks set to lose his security deposit.
The AAP candidate in 2017 assembly election from this constituency had polled total 41010 votes and was placed third behind the Akali and Congress candidates. But the situation has now turned drastically different for the party.
