Two medical store licences cancelled; One Shop sealed for violating drug control norms
Feroepur, November 27, 2025: In a decisive action against illegal drug sales, the Drug Control Department has sealed a medical shop in Zira and cancelled the licences of two medical stores for violating the orders of the District Magistrate, Ferozepur.
Drug Control Officer Sonia Gupta informed that, acting on violations of the District Magistrate’s directions, the medical shop located opposite Zira Bus Stand was immediately sealed in public interest. Following the probe, Zonal Licensing Authority Ferozepur, Lakhwant Singh, cancelled its operating licence.
Providing further details, Sonia Gupta stated that an inspection was conducted at the shop on October 3. During the check, officials recovered 1,780 capsules of Pregabalin 300 mg and 570 tablets of Tapentadol, all without purchase bills, amounting to a total value of ₹67,720. Due to the failure of the owner/manager to produce purchase invoices and violation of the District Magistrate’s orders, the shop was sealed with immediate effect.
She further added that the Zonal Licensing Authority has also cancelled the licence of another medical store in Lakho Ke Behram for violations under the Drugs Act.
Reiterating the government’s commitment, she said the Punjab Government follows a zero-tolerance policy against drug abuse and illegal sale of medicines, and such actions will continue with greater strictness in the future.
