Workshop on ‘Child Safety’ held under Mission Vatsalya
Ferozepur, March 2, 2026: The District Child Protection Unit, Ferozepur, under the Government of India’s Mission Vatsalya Scheme, organized a one-day workshop-cum-training session at HKL College, Guruharsahai, aimed at strengthening child safety mechanisms. The programme was conducted under the able guidance of District Programme Officer Ms. Rachika Nanda.
Mission Vatsalya, a flagship child welfare scheme, aims to ensure care, protection, development, and rehabilitation of children in difficult circumstances.
During the workshop, experts sensitized supervisors and Anganwadi workers on crucial issues related to child protection, including child marriage, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act), and the Juvenile Justice Act. The speakers emphasized that the primary objective of these laws is to safeguard children from physical abuse, sexual exploitation, and harassment, while ensuring a secure and supportive environment for victims.
Special focus was laid on preventing child marriage, which is a punishable offence under Indian law. Participants were encouraged to remain vigilant and proactive in reporting such cases.
The workshop concluded with a call for coordinated efforts among field workers to create a safe and nurturing environment for every child in the district.
