World AIDS Day observed at DIET with awareness activities
Ferozepur, December 1, 2025: World AIDS Day was observed at DIET Ferozepur under the guidance of Assistant Director, Youth Services Ferozepur, S. Jaspal Singh, and Youth Services employee Mrs. Taranjeet Kaur, and under the leadership of Mrs. Seema, Principal, District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Ferozepur.
On this occasion, Lecturer Gaurav Munjal addressed the first-year DIET trainees, informing them that due to the steadily rising number of AIDS patients, India has now reached the third position globally. He explained that AIDS is caused by the HIV virus and spreads mainly through the shared use of needles and syringes, transfusion of HIV-infected blood, unsafe sexual contact, and transmission from an HIV-positive mother to her child before or after birth.
Further, Lecturers Gagandeep Gakhar and Sarabshaktiman Singh clarified that AIDS does not spread through touching, handshakes, sharing utensils, or using items previously used by an HIV patient—these are all misconceptions. They stressed that by adopting basic precautions, individuals can protect themselves from this dangerous disease.
To mark World AIDS Day, DIET students including Shilpa, Rajwinder Kaur, Priyanka Rani, Armanpreet Kaur, and Mahikpreet Kaur participated in a poster-making competition.
