Curfew in UT Chandigarh extended
relaxation timings to be decided April 20
Chandigarh , April 14, 2020 :
Following the PM Modi's announcement to extend the lockdown ,the UT Chandigarh administration has also decided to continue the curfew till May 3, 2020.
The administration will also take a call on fresh restrictions or relaxations during the curfew, if any, on April 20, after examining the extent and frequency of coronavirus cases in the city.
The decision was taken in the daily review meeting chaired by Punjab governor and UT administrator VPS Badnore. He urged residents to bear with the inconvenience in the larger interest of the country.

The proceeding of the meeting was as under :
Governor of Punjab and Administrator Chandigarh, Sh. V P Singh Badnore today presided over Daily War Room meeting. The meeting was attended to by the Adviser, Sh. Manoj Parida and Sh Sanjay Beniwal, Director General of Police at Raj Bhawan. The Administrator also interacted with Sh Arun Gupta, Principal Secretary Home, Sh A K Sinha, Finance Secretary, Sh K K Yadav, Commissioner, CMC and Sh Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh, Deputy Commissioner’s of Mohali & Panchkula, Director, PGIMER, Director Health Services and Director Principal, GMCH through Video Conferencing.
The Governor discussed in detail the address of prime minister to the nation this morning asking for strict implementation of lockdown/curfew.He also mentioned about the seven point guidelines for people to follow for fighting corona.
• The Administrator expressed his happiness that two more patients have recovered and discharged thereby, reducing the total number of Active Cases to 12. He thanked the residents of the Tri-City, who have followed the guidelines strictly, so that the spread of COVID19 has been restricted considerably. He mentioned that Hon’ble Prime Minister has appealed for strict implementation of the lockdown in the next week and hence all the citizens must follow the instructions of Government of India and maintain necessary social distancing and personal hygiene including wearing of masks.
• Dr. G. Dewan, Director Health Services, UT, Chandigarh stated that Door to Door survey has been conducted in Sarangpur, Raipur Kalan, Behlana, Manimajra, Khuda Lahora and Khuda Jassu areas. A total population of 5,02,213 has been covered till date. He also stated that 230 patients have been attended today at the Flu Clinic’s and 120 ambulance calls were attended.
• Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary Health stated that adequate number of PPEs and masks are available in all the three hospitals including PGIMER, GMCH-32 and GMSH-16. He also stated that 43 doctors from PGIMER are availing the facility of accommodation provided by the Chandigarh Administration in Hotel Parkview.
• Sh. Vinod P Kavle, Secretary Food and Supply stated that distribution of wheat and pulses has started. Around 3,000 families have already been provided with their quota of wheat and pulses during the last two and half days in areas like Ram Darbar Phase-I, Behlana, Kaimbwala, Kishangarh, Shanti Nagar, Vikas Nagar etc. The Administrator directed him to ensure that there is proper Social Distancing while distribution to the beneficiares.
• Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner stated that 56,379 have been distributed among the destitutes and needy people in various parts of the city. He also informed that a sum of Rs.1.53 crores has been received in the Red Cross Covid Fund till date.
• Sh. K.K. Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation mentioned that the separation of vegetable and fruit market in Sector 26 has been working smoothly. 104 CTU buses carrying vegetable and fruits are distributing the same in various parts of the city. He also stated that food packets have been distributed in Gwala Colony, Maloya along with ration, soap and sanitary pads under the Livelihood Mission. He informed that home delivery of items through private companies is picking up in the city with nearly 15,00 supplies made on Monday.
• Sh. Sanjay Beniwal, Director General of Police stated that till today 2,789 two wheelers, 82 three wheelers and 911 four wheelers have been booked. Further action against 485 people for violating the curfew orders has been taken.
• Sh. AK Sinha, Finance Secretary stated that necessary notification has been issued for the procurement of wheat for farmers in Grain Market, Sector 39. This will be done with proper distancing.
• Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser stated that the curfew is being implemented strictly. Some instructions are awaited from Government of India regarding benefits to be provided to the affected farmers, daily wage earners and small scale industries. The concerned departments will examine and submit it to the Administrator for final decision.
• Sh. VP Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT appealed to the residents to bear with the inconvenience in the larger interest of the country. He stated that the next week is extremely crucial and any relaxation at this stage will spoil the benefits given so far in maintaining strict curfew in the city. He also thanked the neighbouring districts for extending full of cooperation in implementing the curfew in the area.
