SEVEN ARRESTED FOR VIOLATING CURFEW NORMS, EIGHT VEHICLES IMPOUNDED

Jalandhar, April 16, 2020: In its drive against the persons who were violating the curfew norms by not wearing the masks or by moving outside without any valid pass, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police today arrested seven persons by filing five FIRs against such violators.
Divulging the details, the Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that in order to check the spread of Corona Virus in the state, the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had already made it mandatory to wear masks before stepping out of their home in case of urgency.
However, he said that the Commissionerate Police today registered five FIRs including two for not wearing masks and arrested seven persons for flouting the curfew norms in the city.
The Commissioner of Police said that in total 222 traffic challans were issued today and 8 vehicles were impounded for violation of curfew norms.
He said that till date 284 FIRs were registered in Jalandhar for violation of curfew norms adding that 375 people were arrested for flouting of norms.
