DRM lauds the staff on duty for working 24x7 to ensure regular supplies of essential commodities
Railways dispatch 388 goods trains from Ferozepur division to other states
Ferozepur, April 20, 2020: During the lockdown-curfew period from March 22 to April 18, almost 9.4 lac MTs essential commodities – wheat, rice, potato and others – have been dispatched, by the Indian Railways from Northern Railway of Ferozepur Railway Division, in 388 goods trains through Food Corporation of India in the different of the country.
Now a day, Indian Railway known as the Life Line of India, is playing an important role to ensure the supply of fertilizer for the farmers and essential food commodities for the common man in the country, said DRM Rajesh Aggarwal.
DRM said, in fact the demand of loading has increased in view of nationwide lockdown. Despite shortage of labour and trucks, to supervise the loading and unloading at the freight terminals, the teams of the division are working effortlessly day and night.
Keeping in view the increased demand, 84 wagons are being attached in the goods trains against 42 wagons of two rakes. In these arrangements, the cost is reduced and simultaneously time and money is also saved. This practice will continue in the coming on need and demand basis also and 9 goods trains have been dispatched on long routes, he said.
Aggarwal informed that during the lockdown period imposed in the wake of coronavirus, we are taking special care of our employees to save them from the virus infection, by providing them face masks, i, gloves etc. and also putting the staff on duty in rotation besides following the social distancing norm and thermal scanning of rail employees.
DRM thanked the regular railway staff all categories on duty, in the division also working 24x7 hours to ensure the regular supplies of essential commodities in other parts of the country.
