April.20, 2020: During the lock down period, Bassi Pathana police has arrested 14 peddlers and recovered Heroine, Narcotic Powder, injections, tablets and syrups during the lock down period. Besides this police has also identified 23 addict youths of the area and took them to drug de-addiction centre, where they are being treated, said Sukhminder Singh Chauhan DSP Bassi Pathana.
He said that SSP Amneet Kondal has directed the police that they should also keep a close watch on the nefarious designs of peddlers and anti social elements, so that they may not misuse this situation. He said that Bassi Pathana police launched a special drive and succeeded in arresting two peddlers Gurwinder Singh resident of Wazidpur and Varinder Pal Singh resident of Khant and recovered 6 gm. Heroine, Police arrested four persons Harpreet Singh, Iqbal Preet Singh, Lakhwinder Singh residents of Thablan and Harpreet Singh resident of Kaleran and recovered 9gm powder. He said that police arrested one Bhupinder Singh resident of Bassi Pathana and recovered 19 Kg. Poppy husk.He said that Badali Ala Singh Police arrested one Gurdeep Singh resident of Mehmadpur and recovered 50 injections, tablets and syrups, which he was going to supply in rural area. Police arrested Amandeep Singh resident of village Ghel and Varinder Singh resident of Ghel and recovered 16 gm narcotic powder, which they were going to deliver. Police also arrested one Surinder Singh resident of Bhal Majra and recovered 10 Gm Narcotic powder. He said police arrested Raminder Pal Singh and Dalbir Singh residents of Bassi Pathana while taking the drugs.
He said that all have been booked under NDPS Act.
