CHANDIGARH, April 22, 2020 : Chairman Punjab State Homeopathic Council, Dr Tejinderpal Singh has decided to contribute his five years’ salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for fighting the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
Dr Tejinderpal was appointed Chairman of the Council in May 2017 and his term was recently extended till May 2022. He said, he had not taken any salary/honorarium during the last three years and has now decided that he will contributed the salary of all five years to the CM Relief Fund.
The Council chairman appealed all those people who can afford to donate to the CM’s Relief Fund, generously in accordance with the Gurus’ teachings. “This is humble contribution from my side in this great war against COVID”, he said, “while our Honourable Chief Minister is leading from the front, we should stand by him in whatever way we can”.
In his letter to the Chief Minister, Dr Tejinderpal congratulated him for the proactive and aggressive way he handled the COVID crisis in the state. “You were the first Chief Minister to announce complete curfew, much before the government of India did”, he said, while adding, “it has yielded good results and the state has managed to control the spread of the deadly disease to a great extent’.
Had it not been for the Chief Minister’s timely action, Punjab might have suffered the worst, given the large number of NRIs who had come to Punjab and the Punjabis who had returned form foreign trips, he said.
