April.23, 2020: Dr. Sanjeev Kumar SDM Fatehgarh Sahib cum administrative of Municipal Council Sirhind-Fatehgarh Sahib is a source of inspiration not only for the front line warriors fighting COVID, his staff but for the outgoing councillors and the NGOs operating in Fatehgarh Sahib. He has been regularly in touch with various NGOs and his sources to motivate them to come forward to help the needy in the hour of crisis on humanitarian ground and involved approximately 30 NGOs in Sirhind town to distribute dry ration and cooked food by dividing the town in sectors. He has allotted each sector to one NGO, where the allotted NGO will only supply the dry ration and cooked food, besides this he has also arranged a large number of essential commodities kits containing Rice, Wheat, Dal, Ghee, Oil, Salt, Biscuits, Sugar etc. from his own sources and distributing it to needy through NGOs. He has been working for 14 hours a day to help the people and is available to everyone on cell to redress their grievances.
Besides this he has been motivating the councillors to honour the front line warriors like police, health and sanitary workers working on the front line to fight the COVID-19. He honoured the Health and sanitary staff working in the town along with councillor and redressed their grievances on the spot. He assured that all their needs and demands will be redressed by the council.
Due to his motivation the members of Brahmin Sabha Sirhind came forward and donated 5000 face masks to be distributed to the farmers, labourers and vendors coming to grain market.
He has initiated a campaign to sanitise the entire town by involving the outgoing councillors and covered each and every nook and corner of the town.
There is no dearth of essential commodities, dry ration, cooked food and no one will sleep empty stomach in the area but the people should not be panicky and obey the directions of the district administration by remaining inside their houses and social distancing, said SDM.
