Railways made ‘impossible possible’, create history with highest wagon loading in single day
Ferozepur, April 23, 2020: The Ferozepur Railway Division created history with the highest wagons loading in a single day during the lockdown period.
The transport system came to standstill. The railway is known as the lifeline of India also parked its trains in the yards. However, the goods and parcel trains continued to run on the tracks to ensure the supply of essential commodities in various parts of the country on a need basis.
DRM Rajesh Aggarwal said, the railway has created history with the highest ever loading of 1338 wagons in a single day. It includes 28 28 rakes of foodgrain and 4 rakes of the container. The division has loaded approximately 80,000 tons of foodgrain for different parts of the country to ensure the supply of essential foodgrain in current pandemic situation. Besides six Annapoorna ( combination of 2 rakes) loaded with Foodgrain formed and run for different parts of the country which is also Best Ever in the history of FZR Division.
He said, despite an unprecedented situation around the world due to COVID-19 and to prevent its further spread, the Indian government announced a lockdown on March 23 up to May 3. But this increased the responsibility of the railways to ensure the urgent needed essential supplies. Track Machine Organization of the Northern Railway stood up to the task when due to COVID-19 the workforce drastically reduced. The railway prepared itself to uphold this responsibility towards our beloved nation as such services cannot be stopped for a moment.
We adopted all precautionary measures. Our dedicated workers did not visit their families since the lockdown announcement even maintained the social distancing from the colleagues and worked in clusters. But the employees of railways crossed all boundaries. They worked continuously for long hours. These unknown real heroes of northern railway have made the ‘impossible possible’, he added.
This hard work and sacrifice made Northern Railway proud to run the show smoothly during the lockdown period. The railways frontline warriors are not less than the jawans on our borders.
