Amid curfew, RPF steps vigil over parked trains, coaches converted into Isolation Wards
Ferozepur, May 1, 2020: The Railways – lifeline of India – which had been running goods trains to transport the essential commodities to the deficit states but suspended all passengers’ trains – is keeping a close eye, during the lockdown period, by stepping its vigil through Railway Protection Force – RPF, on the parked trains and certain coaches converted into temporarily Isolation Wards.
While no decision has yet been taken on when the passengers' services, which were suspended in the wake of the coronavirus lockdown, will be resumed, sources said, it is likely to be done in a phased manner after the green signal from the government.
The Lockdown period has been extended for the third time as a precautionary measure in view of the increased corona positive cases in the country.
Divisional Railway Manager, Rajesh Aggarwal said, the railways are not looking in terms of generation of revenue in these sensitive times and focusing only on the safety of passengers.
Adding, regular patrolling arrangements have been made to put a check on the movement of residents near the tracks due to lockdown besides keeping a ‘cat-eye’ by the Railway Protection Force – RPF, at all the stations and rail premises in the Ferozepur rail division. RPF is monitoring each activity through its Control Room on the present situation and action taken in the event of any violation or suspicious movement on railway station premises.
DRM said, the RPF is escorting for the smooth and safe running of goods trains put on transporting the essential commodities.
