May 02, 2020: In all the towns and villages of Fatehgarh Sahib constituency the Congress leaders, supporters and the people led by Kuljit Singh Nagra unfurled National flags on their roof tops, streets and in Bazars on the call of PPCC President Sunil Jakhar to protest against the discrimination attitude of the Union government towards Punjab in the hour of crisis when State is in the grip of COVID-19 threat.
MLA said that the union government is meeting step motherly treatment with the non BJP ruled states, so the Congress party has decided to protest by unfurling National Flag on roof tops. He said that the State government led by Capt. Amrinder Singh is fighting against COVID threat and Punjab was the first state to announce curfew to save the lives of the people of the State. He said that due to lock down the State is losing Rs.3500 Crore revenue per month, instead of helping the State in the hour of crisis the Union government has started discriminating. He said that the balance amount of worth Rs.5000 Crore of GST share is still pending with the union government and they should immediately release it. He said instead of giving any relief package the State’s share od GST is not being released. He demanded that Punjab is the heart of the Nation and Punjabis have always made sacrifices for the cause of the Nation and always remain on front foot to serve the Nation whenever needed. He said still during lock down Punjab sent approximately 1000 wagons of food to other States.
He demanded that instead of discrimination union government should announce a relief package of Rs.20000 Crore for the State, so that all those sections of society, who have suffered due to lock down may be compensated. He said they are demanding their right not.
