Jalandhar, May 02, 2020: Expressing gratitude towards Punjab Government and District Administration, the Jammu and Kashmir residents who had been stranded here due to National lockdown and curfew, returned back to their homes on Friday late night.
A group of 162 persons was sent back after proper medical examination and verification.
Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said that all the people belonged to the various parts of the Jammu and Kashmir UT.
He said that they were medically screened by a team of doctors and paramedical staff before being sent to the Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that before a few back, the administration had talked with officials in Jammu and Kashmir following which the stranded residents were asked to submit the details with the administration along with their personal details.
He told later, the information was shared with the UT officials and sent five buses for ferrying the stranded residents by them.
Sharma added that a team headed by an SDM along with revenue officials and medical officers were set up to ensure hassle-free movement of them in Jalandhar and medical screening of the stranded residents.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma appealed the people who got stuck and are out of food, can come to shelter homes where district administration has made elaborate arrangements of food, lodging and medical facilities in the shelter homes.
Sharma said that Punjab Government-led by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh is committed to ensuring the welfare of the people in this hour of crisis
