Ferozepur, May 4, 2020: The Ferozepur Railway Division transported record foodgrain to the extent of 76 percent more during April, 2020 as compared to the last year in the same month.

Divulging with ore details, Vivek Sharma, Senior Divisional Commercial manager said, during the month of April, 506 rakes in the month have been loaded in the history of the division, in the wake of nationwide lockdown due to coronavirus threat. This includes 401 rakes of food grains and 105 rakes of containers.
The Ferozepur Division ensured an uninterrupted supply of essential commodities – foodgrains to the tune of 12 lakh tons, in the month of April to the different parts of the country. During the last year in the same month, 6.8 lakh tons of foodgrain in 188 rakes was loaded, which comes to around 76 percent more loading during the current year, said Sr. DCM.
During April, in Ferozepur division, 61 Annapuran goods trains – say the combination of two rakes – were dispatched to other parts of the country, which too is a landmark in the history of this division, he added. Similarly, 16 Annapurana trains were run during the month of March.
Sr.DCM informed that the Indian Railways despite the lockdown period is running the goods trains for the supply of essential commodities under the difficult conditions of lockdown.
These efforts have been made to ensure that farm products are picked up on time and also to ensure timely supply during the nationwide lockdown, he said.

Conveying his best wishes to the Railway's Warriors working round-the-clock to run the goods trains on tracks with support of other technical and non-technical staff, Sr.DCM said, it is the proud privilege of Punjab state of having highest production of wheat to feed the other parts of the country, by the Food Corporation of India, through the railways.
