S. A. S. Nagar, May 06, 2020: "The first train of the migrants from Mohali to Hardoi in UP would go from the Mohali Railway Station on 7th May, 2020 carrying 1188 passengers." This was disclosed here today by the Deputy Commissioner Mr. Girish Dayalan.
Divulging the details, the DC said that the train would comprise of a total of 22 bogies with 54 passengers in each. The process would go on for 20 days. In the beginning, one train would be started and later on as per the requirement, 2 or more trains would be added.
The train has been started as per the consent of the UP Government and there would be no inter district stoppage which means that starting from Mohali, the train would only come to a halt at Hardoi. The migrants would be provided packed food,free of cost, during the journey. All the expenses would be borne by the Government.
Detailing the modalities, he said that it is only after getting acceptance from the inbound state (Where the train is scheduled to go), the DC sends indent to the railways and the train is allotted. The passengers are informed by SMS to report at one of the eight collection centres in the district, for screening. This SMS also serves as the ticket for the passenger.Then they would board the buses to the railway station. The buses would go to the railway station in a staggered manner.
Tomorrow, the first train would leave for UP, day after also to the same state. Rest of the schedule would be intimated on daily basis.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to all the migrants that no one should go to the railway station directly because the boarding would be strictly as per the messages they receive. These messages should not be forwarded or shared with others as message sent to each allottee would be verified at designated collection centres before boarding the bus to the railway station.The railway station would be barricaded and cordoned off with no possibility of individual movement , only and only government buses with identified and duly screened migrants would be permitted at the railway station. He however assured that there is no need to panic and reiterated that all those who have applied on the portal would be sent home.
