May 07, 2020: District Police claimed to have solved the theft case in which Rs. 28 lakh were stolen from the office of Pardeep Steel and Agro industries, Mandi Gobindgarh on 17th March with the arrest of an accused identified as Harvinder Singh resident of Mandi Gobindgarh. The police recovered Rs.10 lakh and motorcycle used in crime from his custody.
Giving the information Amneet Kondal SSP said that along with the duties in lock down police is also keeping close watch on anti social elements and nabbing criminals. She said on 17th March a theft had occurred in Pardeep Steel and Agro Industry Mandi Gobindgarh in which an accused stole Rs.28 Lakh by breaking the lock of an almirah. She said it was a blind case and an FIR was registered against unknown persons. She said that a special team led by Harpal Singh SP( Investigation) and DSP(D) Jaswinder Singh Tiwana was constituted and after hard work they developed the information and arrested one Harvinder Singh resident of Mandi Gobindgarh, while he was driving motorcycle on a naka. She said during preliminary investigation he revealed the truth and on his discloser police recovered Rs.10 Lakh and motorcycle, which he had purchased from that money. She said besides this four another cases including of NDPS Act have already been pending against him in Fatehgarh Sahib and Ludhiana district.
She said that he has revealed that the main accused is Dheeraj Kumar of district Mehrajganj, U.P. and two criminial cases are already registered against him in Fatehgarh Sahib. She said that raids are being conducted to nab him. She said the accused will be produced in the court and after getting remand during interrogation more information and theft cases are likely to come out.
She appreciated the efforts of SP Harpal Singh, DSP JS Tiwana, Inspector Bhupinder Singh, Incharge CIA and Inspector Mohinder Singh, SHO Mandi Gobindgarh, who played important role in solving the case.
