Amid lockdown, cooperative societies supply essential commodities worth Rs. 2.26 Crore in Ferozepur
Verka and Markfed prove frontline entities to ensure the availability of necessary supplies
Ferozepur, May 8, 2020: In the ongoing fight against the Coronavirus, the cooperative societies in Ferozepur district have proved to be frontline entities to ensure the supply of essential commodities during these difficult times.
Divulging the details, Deputy Registrar cooperative societies Kuldeep Kumar said that the cooperative societies across the state have played a pivotal role in providing essential commodities during the curfew period with the sale of various products whopping Rs. 2,26,55,333. He further added that as of now the Verka Ferozepur dairy has made the sale of milk worth Rs. 1,78,50,000, of cattle feed Rs.27,60,000 and of Ghee Rs. 2,50,000 during the curfew period in the Ferozepur district. He lauded the efforts of Verka and Markfed in serving the community with the supply of essential commodities.
DRCS said that essential commodities like Sugar, Pulses, Ghee, Oil, and other products are being supplied by Primary Agriculture cooperative service societies to its members through the home delivery system. Similarly, Markfed Ferozepur has sold the edible products worth Rs. 16,00,322 besides cattle feed of Rs. 1,95,011 in the district.
Kuldeep Kumar further added that the cooperative societies are also procuring face masks from the various self-help groups and providing it to the people at reasonable prices adding he said that the fertilizers were being supplied to the farmers through primary agriculture cooperative service societies.
