Decision to revise Excise policy again postponed to next cabinet meeting
Chandigarh , May 09, 2020 : Punjab Government has postponed the proposed revision of Excise policy to the next cabinet meeting to be held on Monday.
Disclosing this information a spokesman of the government said that the Excise Policy 2020-21 would now come up on Monday before the Council of Ministers.
He said "he Ministers of Punjab Government today met with the officials of the Department of Excise and Taxation to deliberate upon suggested changes in the Excise Policy for 2020-21. The discussions were inconclusive and accordingly the Chief Minister has asked them to complete their deliberations over the weekend and convey their views in the meeting of the Council of Ministers to be held now on Monday."
The policy is supposed to revised to address the issues raised by the liquor contractors due to curfew / lockdown . Most of them had refused to open the liquor vends in the state till their demand to compensate the losses and readjustment of the payments etc.
