8,237 migrants moved in 7 Shramik special trains from Ferozepur division
Ferozepur, May 9, 2020: As many as 8,237 migrant workers have moved in 7 Shramaik special trains operated from Ferozepur division.
Divulging with the details, DRM said, the seven trains – 3 from Jalandhar and 7 from Ludhiana - have moved from Ferozepur division ferrying 8,237 migrant works.
Earlier, 16 trains – Jalandhar 8, Ludhiana 7 and one from Amritsar - have moved from Ferozepur rail division till May 7 to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand for Gonda, Azamgarh, Hardoi, Purnia, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, and Daltonganj, carrying 17,938 migrants.
DRM said, as of today, 23 trains have moved from Ferozepur division, carrying 23,075 migrant workers so far.
We arrange for the coaches rake on demand of the state government with all adequate arrangements at the railway level after screening by the health officials besides deploying RPF officials to ensure the safety of the passengers up to their destination, said DRM Rajesh Aggarwal.
All other arrangements for payment of tickets, food, water etc on the way are made by the state government. Railway has given subsidy on fare of tickets upto 85 per cent, he added.
