May.11, 2020: The district got a relief today as no COVID case was reported today, whereas yesterday the district witnessed the record 20 COVID positive cases taking the tally to 48, which created panic among the residents of Sirhind town. The district health department has not only accelerated the process of sampling but has also initiated survey in Khera and Sanghol blocks of the district as most of the cases were reported in these area and have been declared hot spot and containment area to control the spread of COVID, said Amrit Kaur Gill Deputy Commissioner.
She said that in which area the positive cases have been reported has been sealed with the help of police and with the suspect COVID are quarantined in schools, dharmshalas and colleges with the help of SDM and Sarpanches. She called upon the people to follow the directions of the government especially to maintain social distancing, staying at home, cleaning the hands regularly and must use masks.
Meanwhile District Magistrate Amrit Kaur Gill has ordered “ Theekri Pehras” in villages and small towns to maintain the security of government buildings and for not allowing any outsiders in their respective areas amid COVID threat.
