Fatehgarh Sahib. May.13, 2020: Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib organized a special webinar with the theme 'Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s Jeevan, Bani and Darshan' dedicated to the 400th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji through online technology. Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Prit Pal Singh presided over, whereas the chief speakers in this webinar were Dr. Paramvir Singh, Department of Sikh Encyclopedia, Punjabi University, Patiala, Dr. Sarabjinder Singh, Department of Guru Granth Sahib Studies, Punjabi University, Patiala and Prof. Dharam Singh, (Retd.).
In his address VC said that the life, words and philosophy of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji is a beacon for the whole world and we should all make efforts to adopt the teachings of Guru Sahib in our lives. He emphasized the need and importance of online communication techniques in today's changing circumstances. He said that webinars on various topics are being organized by various departments of the University in the coming months and the information in this regard is continuously being uploaded on the University Facebook page ‘https://www.facebook.com/sggswu.edu.in/’.
Dr. Paramvir Singh said that there is an urgent need to make the world aware of the life and martyrdom of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. He gave a detailed account of the life of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, his preaching, journeys and the importance of guidance given to human life from the Banis of Guru Sahib. Dr. Dharam Singh said that such research centers should be set up in the Universities where a comprehensive study of the life, words and message of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji could be done. He said that Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji has made a very important contribution to world peace and harmony which should be brought to the notice of the world through research and study. Dr. Hardev Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Religious Studies moderated the webinar. Apart from faculty members and researchers from various educational institutions, Heads of various departments of the University, teachers and students also participated in the webinar.
