With schools shut due to pandemic, children spending quality time at home
Ferozepur, May 14, 2020: With schools shut due to pandemic and lockdown for the third time, the children at home are spending quality time while attending to online classes from school teachers and keeping themselves in various activities.
On the World Family Day falling within the lockdown period has brought closure to the family members especially when the parents, grandparents got time to spend with children and grandchildren. With schools shut due to the pandemic, it is a challenge for most parents to keep their children occupied, in a holistic environment and keep safe.
It is a coincidence that entire family members are united at home due to lockdown, on the World Family Day which normally they don’t get to interact with their children and making the best use of time while staying with family. In fact, the children learn the art of culture and moral values, in the company of elders who had already witnessed the ups and downs in their lives.
Principal Sangeeta Nistendra said that the center of society is the family and the society cannot function without the family. The DCM Group of Schools is also like a family and even while coming to the school, the student stays in the class like a family.
She said, now with online educational classes, the students are adopting the new art of learning, advising the parents to educate the children to spend quality time during the lockdown period. They are too young to understand the precautions we need to take to fight Covid-19 to which they should be properly explained as to why they cannot indulge in all the things they want to do outdoors;
She said that the knowledge which was given to the children in the classroom by the teachers about other activities apart from education has been adopted by the children in the time of lockdown and set a new precedent. In order to make the World Family Day memorable, a show and tell online competition is also being conducted among the children.
One Akarshi Dhawan, while staying at home, learned the art of stitching mask from her grandmother – Kanta Rani, to contribute in the fight against Corona and distributed among the people in the slum areas.
Another student Arshiya did oil painting, ludo game, dustbin from the waste board and chandeliers from cardboard during the lockdown period while staying at home with the family members.
Even one student Jatin showed his interest in gardening by assisting his father in the open land in their houses by planning vegetables etc.
Speaking on the occasion, Manreet Singh, Vice Principal informed that in 1993, the United Nations passed a resolution to showcase the determination of the organization to encourage better living standards and social progress of families across the globe. In 1994, the United Nations officially declared May 15, the International Day of Families in response to the changing economic and social structures that are affecting the stability and structure of family units in different parts of the world. International Day of Families basically celebrates the fact that families are the central part of any society.
