Jalandhar, May 16, 2020: Keeping its strict vigil over the drug peddlers along with the law and order situation in the curfew imposed to fight Covid-19 pandemic, the Rural Police on Saturday arrested a drug peddler and seized 10-gm heroin besides drug money worth Rs 9 lakh.
The accused has been identified as Kewal Krishan (57) of Kalia Mohalla, Nakodar. The cops have also seized a scooter PB08-DT-4543 from his possession.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jalandhar Rural Navjot Singh Mahal said that CIA head inspector Shiv Kumar along with his team was on routine checking near Malsian road in Nakodar and got a tip-off that Kewal Krishan was involved in drug smuggling and used to sell heroin from his flour mill in Bogra Mohalla.
Mahal said that acting swiftly, Inspector Shiv Kumar and his team raided there and seized 10-gm heroin from Activa Scooter’s Diggy and Rs 1 lakh from there. SSP further added on his revelations, the cops also seized Rs 8 lakh from an Almirah in room in flour mill.
Mahal said that Kewal has been facing four drug cases in various police stations of Nakodar in the past and a fresh case has been registered against him under sections 21, 61 and 85 of NDPS Act in Nakodar city police station.
