Kapurthala, May 16, 2020 - Former Punjab Minister and MLA Kapurthala Rana Gurjit Singh today hosted a lunch for the Covid survivors patients at the Covid facility on the sidelines of which he urged the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to immediately convene a meeting of four crucial departments of the state government to tackle the Covid waste.
Flagging the issue with the Chief Minister during a video conference on the sidelines of lunch, the MLA said that it was the most important issue as ways and means needs to evolved for effective disposal of this waste, which could cause a huge threat to the human life. He urged the Chief Minister to call a meeting of the Local Government, Rural Development and Panchayat, Health and Family Welfare and Pollution Control Board to tackle this problem. The former Minister said that all the departments should be asked to formulate a joint strategy to combat the Corona Virus waste.
The MLA appealed the Chief Minister to ensure that the proper disposal of waste generated by the Covid 19 patients was ensured at the earliest. He said that as the Medical waste of the state was disposed in the five insulators installed across the state, in the same manner a holistic strategy must be evolved for tackling with this waste too. Rana Gurjit Singh impressed upon the Chief Minister that it was the need of the hour to save the precious lives of people.
Complementing the Chief Minister for his visionary approach to deal with the pandemic, the MLA said that Captain Amarinder, who was earlier known as ‘Paanian the Rakha’ (savior of water), would now be eternally remembered as ‘Punjab ate Punjabian da Raakha’ (savior of Punjab and Punjabis). He said that the timely decisions taken by the Chief Minister has helped a lot in saving the precious lives of the people. Rana Gurjit Singh said that Punjabis would ever remain indebted to their most decisive and able Chief Minister for this service.
Meanwhile, the MLA also announced to showcase three covid survivors Mr. Paramjit Singh, Mr. Rajinder Singh and Mr. Karamjit Singh as brand ambassadors of district in fight against pandemic. He said that these Covid Survivors have defeated the Corona Virus by exhibiting the never say die spirit of Punjabis. Rana Gurjit Singh said that there services would be further utilized to motivate and educate the people during the war against Corona.
The MLA also had lunch with the Covid survivors during, which he assured fulsome support and cooperation to them. The Covid Survivors also profusely thanked Rana Gurjit Singh for taking care of them in this hour of crisis.
