Railways made special arrangements for physically challenged persons for boarding train
150th Shramik Train from Ferozepur Rail Division moved from Ludhiana to Hardoi
Ferozepur, May 18, 2020: Today, 150th Shramik Special train moved from Ludhiana to Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh carrying 1,200 migrant workers, said DRM Ferozepur Division, Rajesh Aggarwal. In the coming time, railways are ready for a movement of more special trains as per the need and demand of the state governments.
DRM said, the state governments are making arrangements for tickets and operation of trains with 85 percent subsidy from the railways. However, the railway is also making arrangements for food for the migrants at certain stations in between the journey.
He further said, till May 18, as many as 155 Shramik Special Trains have been operated by the railways which include 35 to Bihar, 109 to UP, 5 to Jharkhand, 3 to MP, one each to Chhatisgarh, AP, and West Bengal. So far, 78 trains from Ludhiana, 55 trains from Jalandhar, 16 from Amritsar and 6 from Ferozepur Cantt have moved to ferry around 1.87 lakh passengers to their home towns.
All adequate arrangements were made by the district administration to ensure thermal screening by the health department, for maintaining social distancing, wearing of masks and boarding the train by moving in a queue and at a distance. The railways has special convenience of wheelchairs for old and physically challenged persons besides deploying RPF and GRP jawans to escort the special trains for the safe journey of the passengers to their destination.
