Victims allege rape by head of the Ashram and disciples
Amritsar, May 18, 2020: Heavy police force along with duty magistrate conducted raid in the Ashram of Ram Tirath Temple where two females were allegedly raped.
Victims were rescued and alleged accused were also arrested on the spot, said police.
Confirming about the incident, DSP Gurpartap Singh Sahota said on the basis of written complaint by member of SC commission Chandigarh Mr . Tarsem Singh Sialka, a raid was conducted in Gyan Nath Ashram at Bhagwan Valmik Temple being run by Girdari Nath and Varinder Nath where two ladies age 25 and 40 were rescued.
Police team arrested the alleged accused Girdari Nath and Varinder Nath on the spot in the presence of duty magistrate when ladies were rescued.
DSP said that victims alleged that both were raped by the alleged accused. Victims visited to the ASHRAM to complain against two disciples of Ashram Suraj Nath and Nachtar Nath who had recently raped them but both the heads of the Ashram did same as their disciples.
Police said that at the time raid two other accused Suraj Nath and Nachtar Nath escaped from the spot but to be arrested shortly as different police teams chasing them on war footing level.
Police said that when these two ladies were raped last night inside the Ashram, they managed to steal the phone of accused and informed their family in Batala town of Gurdaspur district. Victims claimed that their phones were also snatched by alleged accused.
Police said that victim who was 25 years old was married having no issue, visiting the Ashram to seek God’s blessing for child.
Police said that arrested accused were booked under section of 376, 379, 506 of IPC.
