May.19, 2020: Fatehgarh Sahib police claimed to have busted a gang of thieves involved in the theft of liquor from the godown of wine contractor during lock down with the arrested of four persons and recovered 36 boxes of whisky and Rs.76000/- from their custody. The owner of L-1Vijay Sharma alias Tinku is a senior Congress leader and chairman of District Planning Board Mohali.
Addressing the media persons here today Raminder Singh Kahlon DSP Fatehgarh Sahib said that one Ashok Kumar manager of Tinku Wines Sirhind has lodged FIR that on 27th April some unknown persons have stolen 234 boxes of costly brand of whisky from their godown on Sanipur Road Sirhind. He said that a special team led by Harpal Singh SP( Investigation) succeeded in nabbing one Gursewak Singh resident of Sirhind and recovered 32 boxes of English Wine and Rs.76000/- from his custody and during interrogation three more persons identified as Baljinder Singh and Rakesh Kumar both residents of Sirhind and recovered four boxes from them. He said one more person identified as Gurpreet Singh resident of Ludhiana has also been arrested. He said that name of four more persons have surfaced and raids are being conducted to nab them.
It is worth mentioning that during complete lock down due to COVID-19 234 boxes of Scotch and costly whisky were stolen from the godown of L1 wholesale wine contractor Tinku Wines situated at Sanipur road Sirhind near GT Road raising question over the working of Sirhind police. The police on the complaint of Ashok Kumar manager had register the FIR in this regard.
